macOS menu bar · for teams · free & open source

Share Claude with your team, like one battery.

Claudeometer pools your team's Claude limits into one shared battery: see everyone's live usage and borrow a teammate's Claude the moment you're out of quota — end-to-end encrypted and self-hosted. And it's a menu-bar gauge for your own 5-hour window, too.

macOS 13+ · Apple Silicon & Intel · or install with Homebrew
Why Claudeometer

Built to be kept in the menu bar.

Six reasons it earns the pixels, on its own merits.

01 / OPEN

Free & open source

MIT licensed, all of it — the app, the relay, the site. Read every line before you trust it with anything.

02 / PRIVATE

No account, no telemetry

There's nothing to sign up for. Your usage history stays in a local file; nothing about you is collected, ever.

03 / SEALED

End-to-end encrypted borrowing

A borrowed credential is sealed to one recipient with public-key crypto. The relay carries opaque ciphertext it can't open.

04 / YOURS

Self-hosted relay

Team mode runs against a tiny Go binary you host — one file, SQLite, no cloud dependency, no third party in the loop.

05 / NATIVE

Native Swift, feather-light

A real menu-bar app — no Electron, no browser shell. A few MB on disk and barely a blip of battery or RAM.

06 / INSTANT

Zero setup

It reads the login Claude Code already stores in your Keychain. Install, and your gauge is live in seconds.

What you get

A fuel gauge for your Claude limits.

No more guessing how much you have left. Claudeometer reads your live quota and turns it into something you can read in half a second.

Live quota, gradient color

The 5-hour window right in the menu bar, with a color that shifts smoothly from green to red as you climb — no hard jumps.

Burn rate & ETA

See how fast you're spending (+%/hr) and a forecast of when you'll hit the wall — turns a static gauge into a warning system.

24-hour pace graph

A sparkline of your recent consumption, built from history kept locally for 30 days. Spot your heavy hours at a glance.

Graduated alerts

Notifications at 50%, 75%, 90% (panic), and 100% of the 5-hour window — each fires once, so you're warned, not spammed.

Every quota at once

5-hour, 7-day all, Sonnet, Opus, OAuth apps, and extra-usage spend — all in one tidy popover.

Hot Claude Code sessions

See which of your local Claude Code sessions are burning the most tokens in the last five hours.

Team mode

Out of quota? Share your team's Claude.

Point the app at a relay you host and your team becomes one pool: live boards of everyone's headroom, and time-boxed borrowing with built-in approval.

Live boards for every team

Pick a team from your list — or an All view across them — and see each teammate's current usage and when their 5-hour window renews, so you always know who's using less than you before you ask.

Create or join teams

Spin up a team with a name and password, or join one you know the name and password for. Be part of several at once — say KC-Tech and KC-Product — and borrow within any of them. Public teams are discoverable and let people ask to join with owner approval; private teams stay invisible.

Borrow, end-to-end encrypted

Request a fixed window from anyone in your team who's less used than you — they get a notification with Approve and Reject built in. The credential is sealed just to you — the relay only ever carries opaque ciphertext — and it auto-reverts when the time's up. You can only borrow from someone you share a team with, and a borrow you make in one team stays private from your others.

Self-hosted & private

Runs against a tiny relay you host yourself. Teams are gated by a password (hashed on the relay), and the relay only ever sees usage numbers and opaque ciphertext — never your Claude credentials. It stays dormant until you point the app at your own relay.

See it in action

Every screen, at a glance.

Mockups of the real popover — your personal gauge, the list of teams you share, a team board with live borrow status, and the one-tap approval prompt.

Personal

The 5-hour gauge, burn rate, and ETA — plus every quota, one glance away. Borrowing? A soft banner shows whose quota you're running on.

Your teams

Be in several teams at once. Your list shows each one — tap in to that team's board, or the All view across them. Create or join more from the ••• menu.

Team board

Inside a team: everyone's headroom in one list — including who's borrowing from whom, live.

Borrow request

Approve or reject right from the notification banner — no need to open the app. It auto-reverts the moment time's up.

How it works

Local, private, no setup.

Claudeometer piggybacks on the login you already have. Your token and usage data never leave your Mac — there's no account and no telemetry.

Reads your existing login

It uses the OAuth token Claude Code already stores in your macOS Keychain. Nothing new to sign into.

Checks your quota

It calls Anthropic's usage endpoint for your live numbers and keeps a small 30-day history locally for the pace graph.

Keeps you in the loop

The menu bar updates itself, and you get a nudge at each threshold — so a hit limit is never a surprise.

Install macOS 13+

Homebrew — recommended; opens with no Gatekeeper warning:

brew tap sgsi/claudeometer https://github.com/SGSI/claudeometer.git brew trust sgsi/claudeometer brew install --cask claudeometer

Installed before July 2026? The tap moved into this repo — if you see "remote mismatch" or upgrades say you're up to date when you're not, re-point it once:

brew untap --force sgsi/claudeometer brew tap sgsi/claudeometer https://github.com/SGSI/claudeometer.git brew trust sgsi/claudeometer brew reinstall --cask claudeometer

Or download the .dmg — drag Claudeometer to Applications. It isn't notarized yet, so clear the quarantine flag once:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Claudeometer.app
↓ Download .dmg

Want team mode? It needs a relay URL. If you'd rather not host your own, email sanketwable123@gmail.com or reach out on LinkedIn, and I'll share my hosted relay URL to point the app at.
